Targeted drug significantly delays advanced breast cancer progression but increases toxicity, phase III trial reports
In a global phase 1 trial, trastuzumab rezetecan showed promising signs of fighting ERBB2-low metastatic breast cancer in patients who had already undergone extensive treatment. Also known as HER2-low breast cancer, this subtype is characterized by low levels of HER2, a growth factor protein that can still be targeted for treatment. Trastuzumab rezetecan is an antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) that works like a guided missile, seeking out tumor cells expressing low levels of ERBB2 and delivering a toxic chemotherapy payload directly inside them.
