Couple both earn $110k, woman expresses disappointment when he demands to split the cost of her birthday dinner: 'This is gonna be a bigger bill than I thought'

Should you have to pay for your own birthday dinner? It might not be the most romantic of topics, but finances are one of the most important things to be on the same page about when it comes to a serious relationship. Who pays for what, and whether they genuinely have the means to do so, is likely to be the foundation of many issues and arguments if you can't seem to reach an agreement about it.Unless both parties feel it is fair for one of them to be paying all or most of the expenses, it usually isn't right to assume that somebody is going to automatically do that for you. However, most people also don't want themselves to be tied to a Scrooge who finds it painful to part with any money at all in support of their partner. Even those who are stringent believers in everything being 50/50 have to acknowledge that there are times when it is important to treat the person that you love. Not everybody needs money to be spent on them to feel special, but almost anybody will appreciate being shown that they are worth the investment.
