Most marriages fail because spouses, at some point, stop prioritizing each other and thinking about each other as the most important person in their lives. When you get married, your life changes completely. You are not by yourself anymore; you have someone at your side who, hopefully, will be by your side for the rest of your life, and even though that doesn't mean you stop having your own life, independence, and interests, it doesn't mean either that you can keep living as a single person. Priorities change when you marry someone, and that's both normal and the right thing to do. When you choose someone to marry, you're choosing the person who is going to be with you permanently. Not the parents, not the friends, not your children. Everybody has their own lives, and even though they can be excellent companions, you'll only share the most intimate aspects of your life with your spouse, so it's better to take care of them and make them feel loved. Some people are not able to understand that, to be a good partner, you have to put your spouse's needs above other people's needs and wants.
